The ultra fine wools of textile company Dyeing House Gallery, are well-known, and the family back story is captivating. DHG is located in Prato, in the heart of Tuscany, a region that is historically a center for the textile trade, as far back as the fourteenth century. Francesco di Marco Datini, an Italian merchant “bargained in tissues” by conveying fine linens from this area that were known throughout the world.
Gaia was asked to return and work with her family and their new alliance. They hoped she would bring new business ideas and a fresh point of view. She says “I accepted because I love my family, my city, and our tradition, so I could not miss the chance to be part of it. Other family members are already working the company, including my father, brother, aunt and cousin. And here I am…” One of those new ideas that Gaia brought to the company gave birth to DHG, an independent company within the group.
